WhatsApp Messenger review
WhatsApp is a free instant messaging app that allows you to send text, add images and files to your messages, make voice and video calls. It runs on iPhone, Android smartphones and also has a laptop version for Mac and Windows.
Interface and main menu options
WhatsApp has a very simple to use interface chat and call app. It has been designed to make your call and chat experience easy and fast. You can use WhatsApp to communicate with your friends and family, as well as for professional purposes.
The chat text window is quite intuitive and offers separate buttons for texting options, so you save time browsing the text entry menu. You can basically introduce anything into your message: an emoji, leave a voice message, or make a picture or video. You can also attach Word or PDF files, as well as somebody's contact data or your location pin.
Main features and buttons
WhatsApp has been recently updated in order to make users' experience quicker and more efficient.
For example, now you can directly choose between a video or a voice call just by clicking on the camera or phone button, no need for an additional window.
It also has an "attach a file" button next to the text window, where you can choose the type of file to send. All options are clearly stated and give access directly to your documents or photo library.
You can also make a picture or record a video by clicking on the camera button next to the text window below and send it instantly.
Another option is to send a voice message, which is easily recorded by clicking on the microphone icon next to the text window.
Finally, one of the awesome features is the voice-to-text option that allows you to dictate your messages instead of typing them.
The new feature that has been recently incorporated by the developers is group chat video calls with over four participants.
WhatsApp, although very popular in the US, has some security issues. It has already had several security breaches in past years. First, its new group call feature has been indexed by Google, which meant anyone could join a group just by doing a regular Google search.
Another weak point of this app is its laptop version fails to protect users from possible hacking attacks via malicious text messages that could infect their system immediately.
